The Maine Forest Service and Rangeley Fire & Rescue are having a 1-day course on how to conduct home risk assessments. The course is put together by the National Volunteer Fire Council and is free, but limited to only 30 participants.
The course targets volunteer FF’s so they can conduct Wildfire Risk Assessments the same way that Forest Rangers have been doing them for the past 20 years. In general, we look at the exterior building materials, local water sources, access and the vegetation near the structures. The data are used in developing Community Wildfire Protection Plans.
