Training Props & Equipment

COVID-19 OPERATIONS UPDATE:

Due to the ongoing threat posed by the COVID-19 virus, MFSI may not be able to meet the usual demand of equipment requests. If you do receive a prop or equipment loan from us, the length of time that you requested it for may be shortened in order to provide access fairly across all communities. Your patience during this difficult time is greatly appreciated.

Some props and training equipment may require new decontamination procedures following their use.

In addition, the following tools and props are currently unavailable for requests*:

OUT OF SERVICE UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE:

    • Compressor Trailer
    • Radios
    • Rope & Webbing
    • Bullex Fire Extinguisher
    • Chainsaws
    • HazMat Trailer

The Maine Fire Service Institute is dedicated to assisting our states fire fighters in fire training by providing them with equipment and props to conduct periodic in-house training.  The equipment and props are on a first come first serve basis. Please be considerate and make your request for props or equipment at least two (2) weeks in advance of your need for them as we may be unable to guarantee that we can accommodate your request. They must be requested by the Fire Chief, Deputy Chief or Training Officer.  For more information about our available training props and equipment, please contact Ray Bishop at rbishop@smccme.edu or 207-205-2761

MFSI also manages three specialty training trailers, they are as follows:

  • MAST Mobile Alarm Sprinkler Trainer
  • Car Fire Prop
  • Pumps Training Trailer

These three specialty trailers are owned by other agencies and are a shared resource, thus they are on a monthly by county schedule.  Please visit our specialty trailers page for the schedule for each of the specialty trailers. We encourage you do download them and keep them for reference.

NOTE: It is the responsibility of the borrower to read and understand the operator’s manual before using the props or equipment i.e. saws.  The borrowing agency shall be responsible for any stolen or damaged equipment.
