Long time State Fire Instructor Stephen Bunker has taken on the task of preventing cancer in firefighters across Maine. A noble calling to be sure. The ugly truth is firefighters are significantly more susceptible to certain cancer based on the exposures they face during fire suppression and other activities.

Stephen plans to visit firefighter programs around the State of Maine to spread the message on cancer prevention. A grim reality of the job. “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure”.
